Mrs. Reinetta Morrow Lewis Obituary

Reinetta Ann Morrow is a Chicago native born to Taft and Lizzie Morrow.  She was reared in the Bronzeville Community, aka, “Low End” along with seven other siblings.  Reta was educated in the Chicago Public Schools spending the majority of her elementary years at Carter G. Woodson and her middle school years at Forrestville Upper Grade Center.  Reta spent her high school years at Dr. Martin Luther King, JrHigh where she served the entire four years playing the clarinet and marching with the King High School Band known as the “Mighty Jaguars”.  Unbeknownst to many, Reta excelled in music theory while in the marching band, and she had a love for all genres of music.  It was in 1979 that Reta graduated from King High School and entered the workforce.

Reta held several jobs after graduating from high school and served in a few supervisory positions.  However, she forged her career working with the United States Postal Service from which she retired after serving 35 years.  She began serving the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago, IL and relocated with a transfer to Memphis, TN where she resided for twelve years.  In later years, Reta continued with the U.S. Postal Service in Atlanta, GA and finally retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Dothan, Alabama.  She enjoyed her career with the post office and was a favorite everywhere she worked because of her friendly disposition, ability to work as a team player and her strong work ethic which was instilled in all of the Morrow children by their mother.

Reta was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her son—Joseph Patrick. She has three sisters—Mary Lynn (husband, Bill), Melody Elaine, and Pamela; along with two brothers—Willie Charles and Jaylee.  She has twogranddaughters—Kalise Morrow and Kaliyah Means—whom she loved dearly.  There is a multitude of first cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends, neighbors, her Zion Grove Baptist Church Family in Chicago, and the people of Dothan who poured out immensely their love and concern.  From all of us with love and kisses, we bid her farewell.
