Mr. John Luther Johnson was born on January 15, 1945 to the late George Otis and Ola Mae Johnson. At an earlier age he joined Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark, AL. Mr. Johnson left Ozark, AL at the age of Fifteen and moved to Bronx, New York to pursue his education. He met and married miss Naomi Woods; no children were born of that union. He pursued a career in Law Enforcement; he worked as a Police Officer for the New York City Police Department where he retired after serving Twenty-Five plus years. He returned home to Ozark, AL in the early Two Thousands.
He departed this life on February 11, 2019, at home. He was preceded in death by his late parents, George Otis and Ola Mae Johnson; Grandparents, John Oliver and Essie Mae McLeod; George and Nancy Briars Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Two brothers, Charlie Ray (Erika) Johnson of Birminham, AL; Clyde (Regina) Ward of Ozark, AL; One sister, Johnnie Mae (Winfred) Bivins of Ocean Springs, MS. One Aunt, Essie (Viola) Byrd of Birmingham, AL. And a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and friends.
The Johnson Family wish to acknowledge our expressions of Thanks, sympathy, service and prayers shown during our time of bereavement. A Special thanks to Southeast AL Medical Center; Dale Medical Center, Encompass Rehabilitation center, Ozark Rehabilitation Center; And Darren and Cassandra Wilson, Miss Anna Marie Wilson, Shamika Byrd; and a very, very Special recognition to my Brother, Mr. Charlie Ray Johnson for stepping up to take care of our Big brother in his time of need.
And we would like to Thank the First Responders and Paramedics and Fire Department of Ozark, AL for all of their dedicated work for our loved one during his illness and Medical care. May God continue to bless you and your family forever!!!
