Prentice Sherman Mitchell was the youngest child of the late Jimmie Lee Mitchell, Sr. and Margie Knight Mitchell. He was their special gift born on December 25, 1943 in Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia. On Friday, August 9, 2019, Prentice gained his heavenly wings and joined his parents and siblings, Jimmie Lee Mitchell, Jr., Ella Moton, James C. Mitchell, and R.C. Mitchell.
Prentice attended local schools and graduated from Oconee High School, Class of 1963. He moved to Orlando, Florida and worked for Winn Dixie Stores as a manager for more than 20 years. Prentice relocated to Alabama 1981 to be closer to his mother and brother. He worked for SuperSave in Ozark, AL until he retired.
Prentice was a great family man and a loving father. He is survived by wife, Mary Mitchell; four children, Vicki Buckley (Rondy), Ursula Hayes, Byron Mitchell (Chasity), and Kelly Bartley. One brother: Johnny Mitchell; Ten grandchildren: Jerel Foster, Byron Mitchell, Jr., Bryan Mitchell, Bryson Mitchell, Naja Mitchell, Alijah Gissendanner, DaShawn Mitchell, Dynasty Mitchell, Symphony Bartley; three great grandchildren, Alletta Hall, Jerel Foster, Jr., and Byron Mitchell, III; a special grandson Josh Green, a special friend Rhonda Jouvenas, and two special nieces, Annette Williams and Yvonne P. Mitchell; a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
