On the morning of August 20, 2023, the gates of Heaven opened, and God extended a welcoming hand unto his child: I heard the voice of Jesus say come unto to me and I will give you rest. Blessed much needed REST after an extended illness!
Brother Ceasar McGruder was born in the U.S. Army Hospital, Ft Rucker, Alabama on January 23, 1956, to the late Robert McGruder and the late Mae Wess Mitchell. Robert McGruder passed away when Ceasar was a toddler as the result of a car accident. His stepfather was the late SSG (Ret) Christopher Mitchell. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Augustus Mitchell (May 2023).
He was a 1974 Graduate of Carroll High School, Ozark and an entrepreneur owning and operating Cinderella Detail Car Wash for many years.
He joined St Paul A.M.E Church at an early age. Later in life he joined Greater Sardis Baptist Church where he served as an usher and remained a faithful servant until his passing. He also attended Church of God by Faith, the church home of his beloved late mother.
He leaves to cherish his memory one stepson, Devin Shaw (Alexis) (Ozark); A devoted and dedicated companion/friend, Connie Johnson (New Jersey); One sister, Neva Collins (Atlanta); one brother Christopher Mitchell (LA); One grandson, Devin Shaw II; Nine nephews and nieces: Toney Collins (Tonya), Alekey Collins(Tondy) (Atlanta); Austin Mitchell (Janet), Brandon Griffin, Brittany McLeod, Marquetta Mitchell, Kalecie McLeod, Ashley Mitchell, and Keotonye Mitchell (Ozark); One special grandniece, Talaya; a special devoted first cousin, Shaheed Beecham (Lisa) (Atlanta); and an extended family of grandnephews/nieces, cousins and friends.
