Obituary

Jo Ann Clark was born March 10, 1940, in Ozark, AL to Joseph Ramsey and Annie Williams. On Saturday January 28, 2023,Joann passed away at Madison Manor Nursing Home in Madison, AL. 

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Ramsey and husband Calvin Clark. She was the oldest of two children.  

Jo Ann married William Hill, and 7 children came from this union. Jo Ann married Calvin Clark on June 8, 1986, they were married 32 years, until his passing in 2018.

Jo Ann was a lifelong member to Saint Paul AME church, giving her life to Christ at an early age. Jo Ann graduated from D.A. Smith School in Ozark, AL in 1957. Started her career working at Walmart, as a Customer Service Cashier, where she would retire in 2009 after a total of 22 years. Jo Ann loved being the smiling face her guest would see during their checkout. She enjoyed wearing her blue vest that displayed pins of her years of service, monthly service goals achieved and customer services awards. JoAnn was awarded Wal-Mart’s “Employee of the Year” Award several times throughout her career.

Jo Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and friendslaughing and creating memories. She would always host her large family at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Jo Ann enjoyed hosting local card and dominoes parties with friends and family. Jo Ann enjoyed winning those games too, when she would win, you could hear yell with excitement allthroughout the house. One of her favorite past times was driving down to the Florida line with her husband and mother. Her mother and her husband were her best friends, often you would not see one without the other. 

Jo Ann leaves to cherish her loving memories her Mother, Annie Williams, Huntsville, AL, Sister, Archie Wooley, Charlotte, NC; three sons, Joseph Hill (Darla), Huntsville, AL,  William Hill, Huntsville, AL and Michael Hill, Ozark, AL; four daughters, Iris Rivera (Carlos), Huntsville, AL, Jacqueline Newman, Huntsville, AL, Wanda Jones, Bartlett, TN and Sheila Hill of Huntsville, AL; thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; two special nephews, Jamison and Camron Wooley; two special Nieces, Stephanie and Alayna Wooley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.
