Mrs. Mattie Davis, affectionately known as “Baby Ruth,” departed this life in Ozark, Alabama on Sunday, May 15, 2022 .at the age of 87. She was born in Ozark, Alabama, December 30, 1934, the only child of Melinda and C. D. Wells. She gave her life to Christ at an early age when she joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Ozark, Alabama. She later united with All Nations Church of God in Christ and Heirs of the Kingdom Church, serving as the Church Mother until her health failed.

She attended the Ozark Colored School, later renamed D. A. Smith High School. She was employed primarily as a domestic worker, but also worked in local restaurants.
